Frequently Asked Questions

  • Drystone generally runs a bit bigger than other labels. My advice is to go one size smaller than what you would regularly wear for the jacket.

The pants are not perfectly representative of standard waist sizes; this is reflected by the odd sizes, so please refer to the waist circumference for true fit. I wear a 32-34” in most pants and a 33 in Drystone fits me perfectly.

All Drystone pants fit the same, as they are cut from the same base pattern.

  • Drystone ships from Morningside, Tamaki Makaurau Auckland, and is wrapped in heavy recycled paper and paper tape to reduce all possible plastic.

  • As garments are made to order, we encourage you to consult the size guide before ordering. If you do have an issue with your purchase, please use the contact form to get in touch.

  • As Drystone is in its first limited run and garments are made to order, the time to ship will vary anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks. Basically, the sooner you order, the further up the list to have your garment made you will be.

  • Don’t worry if you missed out on the first limited run of approximately 20 canvas garments and 20 T-shirts. There will be more work coming from Drystone in the following months. At the moment, I am unsure when I will be releasing more of the current 16-oz canvas.

  • Yes. All Drystone pieces are made to be worn by anyone, regardless of gender.

The cuts are designed to work across different body types rather than being restricted to traditional men’s or women’s sizing. Because of this, how a piece fits can vary depending on the person wearing it.

For example, the shorts can be worn higher on the waist or lower on the hips depending on your preference and proportions. Some people prefer a higher waist fit, while others wear them lower for a more relaxed look.

  • Raw means that the canvas has not been washed after being woven. This gives it more structure and means that it is as tough as it can be. Raw canvas softens with wear and conforms to your body’s shape. 16oz means that the fabric weighs 16 ounces per square yard. Most modern jeans only use 10–13oz fabric as it is more cost-effective and easier to produce on scale.

  • The best way to care for your raw canvas pieces is to wear them regularly. If possible, it is always best to spot clean your canvas, as colour does fade with every wash, similar to denim.

If you do need to wash your raw canvas, it is best to hand-wash in cold water with a mild detergent, then rinse. Once washed, roll the garment in a towel to remove excess moisture, then hang to dry on a coat hanger in the shade.

Alternatively, it is quite common to deodorise canvas pieces by hanging them in the sun, turned inside out, for a couple of hours.
